a trip to haiti

we're going to haiti tomorrow. in fact, we're leaving in less than 6 hours (that will b e 5am DR time). that means we should make it just in time for the opening of el mercado, at the border of the DR and Haiti. but that's not the real reason we're going.

we're going because we have a prospective family for Ian. a few weeks ago, a friend of ours sent out an email to MFI (the mail service we use) who then forwarded the email to all of their current and previous clients, about us looking for a home for Ian. a missionary in haiti responded about a couple she knows who are unable to have children and desperately want to adopt a haitian baby. this option is great because, if it all works out, ian can go to his family sooner, rather than later, as opposed to waiting a year for the adoption process to go through in the states.

this couple is very excited about the opportunity to have their own child. we're excited, as well, for ian to have a home, but of course we're a bit sad, too. we've come to love ian very dearly and he's been a huge part of our lives for the past two months.

however, tonight we have packed up all of his belongs to take with us. we are prepared to leave him in haiti with this family if we feel the Lord leading us to do so.

we would appreciate all of your prayers for safe travel tomorrow, as well as wisdom and discernment to know if this is the family that God has planned for Ian.
