it's raining! cancel school!

Noel, the tropical storm, decided to pay us a visit today. the south coast was hit harder than we were, but we did get rain all last night and through much of today. dominicans do not enjoy go out in the rain, and school tends to get cancelled when it rains. so we were at home cleaning and preparing for our work team that comes in tomorrow.

we had to run a few errands, one of which including buying a machete for cutting the grass. yes, they use machetes to cut grass. is that weird? there are different types of machetes. long, thin ones for clearing land, short, fat ones for gardening. I was at one hardware store that didn't have the kind I needed. I pointed to one that looked similar to what I was looking for and asked what it could be used for. the man replied "for cutting meat." ah yes, I use a machete to cut meat all the time.

so come to the DR and get your meat cutting machete for only $4!
